The Winter Programs are currently underway. Anyone interested in jumping into the programs before we close (Feb 16th) should contact Jason Aquilante at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss availability and pricing.
This Winter, Angels Baseball will be offering a Hitting Clinic as well as a Defensive Clinic for kids ages 8-18. We will be offering two options for each program, one for kids ages 8-12 and the other for kids ages 13-18.
: Players will be taken through six 90-minute sessions in January and February. The goal is not simply to get hitters ready for the Spring; but to put them in a position where they can excel in the Spring. Each participant will have their Exit Velocity measured in Session 1, and again in Session 6; where the goal is to see an improvement in the key metric for hitters. Participants will be put through drills that emphasize proper body control and swing. We will ensure that players KNOW what they need to do; while also giving them a significant volume of reps to help them see the desired improvement. Participants in the Tuesday session (older kids) will also be put through drills for bunting; hitting behind runners and handling off-speed pitches.
All participants will receive feedback from two College Coaches using the First Look program. Videos of your child hitting will be posted to the First Look app, and will be assigned to two College Coaches. The coaches will provide feedback on your child’s swing. When feedback is provided, parents will receive an email notification which provides instruction on how to view the feedback. The coaches will share what they believe needs to be fixed and will provide a video for a drill that they believe can help your child achieve a better swing.
: Players will be taken through six 1-hour defensive sessions in January and February. The clinics are geared for players that are middle infielders (second-basemen and/or shortstops). Our focus will be heavy on improving the footwork, glovework and throwing motions specific to middle infielders. To have success, and excel, at the middle infield positions, players must have quick feet; be able to get in various fielding positions (and quickly); and have short, quick throwing mechanics. Defense is severely undertaught in today’s game; and we will use these six sessions to make sure players understand the importance of their feet, hands, and throwing mechanics.
Athleticism and “great actions” are what define a middle infielder. The speed in which one gets to a ball, combined with one’s ability to get into a proper fielding position are key focus points in our program. We will also spend a great deal of time on the transition from field to throw. Many young infielders take too long to get rid of the ball while others try and rush it without getting their body in proper position to throw. Your child will greatly benefit from the six hours of intense training they will go through during this program.
***When determining age range, please use your child’s age as of April 30, 2023. For example, if your child is currently 12; but they turn 13 on April 1, 2023, then you should enroll them in the program for kids ages 13-18.***
